Genomics Center Manager, Research Scientist II

Tracy Kim received her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2016 from the University of North Texas (Denton, Texas). In her doctoral research, Dr. Kim performed extensive sample preparation and sequencing troubleshooting using a number of high-throughput sequencing platforms. Now, as the current manager of the UNT BioDiscovery Institute Genomics Center, Dr. Kim has more than 5 years of experience in sequencing methods and tools, with a focus in industry-leading Illumina technology.

Dr. Kim was the original manager of the Center, and was responsible for the original design of the systems, methods, and techniques used there, developing the Center from its inception to its current key role of providing sequencing support to the UNT community and outside researchers. At this time, the Genomics Center has prepared and sequenced samples from more than 30 different species as well as provided initial funding and experimental design consultation support to over 30 research labs at UNT.
