Patrick Horn Lab - Ph.D. Student Positions Available

Overview

Multiple Ph.D. student positions are available starting Fall 2023 in Dr. Patrick Horn's Lab at the University of North Texas, Department of Biological Sciences. Ph.D. positions provide full support of tuition and stipend for completing our Ph.D. program. Students will have opportunities to pursue research projects focusing on 1) Plant bioproducts for human health and industrial applications, 2) Structural characterization of plant enzymes, 3) Redox processes in photosynthetic membranes and/or 4) Plant productivity in enhanced-stress environments. Our lab is committed to building a diverse team of researchers, contributing to an area of pride for UNT and our community, and therefore strongly encourages applications and inquiries from members of underrepresented groups. Students will have an opportunity to join the BioDiscovery Institute. UNT is a Hispanic-serving and Minority-serving public research university with a Research 1 (R1) Carnegie classification enrolling over 47,000 students across our system and awarding nearly 12,000 degrees each year.

Qualifications

Prospective students should have a B.S. (or M.S.) in biochemistry, chemistry, biology, molecular biology, plant molecular sciences, or in a related field. Previous research experience in any of these areas is highly preferable but not required.

Interested students should initially send a CV/resume and statement of research/career interests to Dr. Patrick Horn (Patrick.horn2@unt.edu).
