Plant Biochemistry - Assistant Professor

The Department of Biological Sciences at University of North Texas (UNT), a Hispanic-Serving Institution and a Carnegie Research Tier 1 institution, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Biochemistry. Preference will be given to applicants with research interests focused on Plant Biochemistry and a desire to develop an active research program using modern tools in biochemical, biophysical and structural biology. Research emphasis in the areas of plant specialized metabolism, biochemical and structural analyses of proteins or polymers, biochemical and physiological basis of plant growth, development, and response to the environment, including stress, would relate well with other ongoing research at UNT. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain funding to support a vibrant research program in their discipline and engage in undergraduate and graduate education by teaching general courses in biology and biochemistry as well as their area of expertise. The successful candidate is also expected to participate in relevant regional, national, and international research communities within their disciplines.

The successful candidate will interact with diverse faculty, staff and students within and between departments at UNT, the BioDiscovery Institute and the Advanced Environmental Research Institute, contributing to a strong tradition of interdisciplinary and collaborative research at UNT. The successful candidate will have an interest and participate in our growing undergraduate and graduate degree programs in biology, and is expected to help foster their continued growth.
